Referral service
Brentwood Yard Drainage is an independent referral website, not a contractor. We do not install drains or do drainage work. When you call or send a request, we pass it to an independent local drainage contractor who serves your area. Quotes, pricing, scheduling, warranties, and all work are handled directly by that contractor. Ask for the contractor's license number and verify it at cslb.ca.gov.
Cost information and its sources
Cost ranges on this site are published figures, cited where they appear. The sources used, and the date we read them (October 1, 2026):
- HomeGuide, How Much Does a French Drain Cost? (February 5, 2026)
- Angi, How Much Does Yard Drainage Cost? (updated September 7, 2026)
- Bob Vila, French Drain Cost: What to Know and How Much You'll Pay (June 27, 2024)
- Cardona Construction (a Bay Area contractor), French Drain Installation Cost 2026: Bay Area Pricing (April 10, 2026). Used only as a regional reference point; it is one company's published guide, and this site has no connection to it.
The HomeGuide, Angi, and Bob Vila figures are national. Where the cost guide multiplies a published per-foot rate by a length, the arithmetic is shown and labeled. None of these figures is a quote. The only price that applies to your yard is the written quote from the contractor who looks at it.

Technical information
Statements about trench depth, slope, materials, and drain layouts describe common practice, not code requirements. Every yard is different, and the contractor's design for your property takes precedence over anything here. Rules on drainage outlets, permits, and connections to streets or storm drains are set locally; check with your city. Nothing on this site is engineering, legal, or insurance advice, including on runoff between neighboring properties.
Licensing and contracts
Our policy is to refer requests only to contractors who hold a current California contractor license. We do not verify insurance or inspect work. Ask the contractor for their license number and verify it at cslb.ca.gov before any work begins. For California's rules on when a license is required and what a home-improvement contract must contain, see the Contractors State License Board directly; we do not restate those rules here.
